3PC investigated system software support for adaptive applications in peer to peer based spontaneous networks. The project addressed the heterogeneity of devices as well as the heterogeneity of communication technology. The overall objectives were the development of system software that is minimal in its resource requirements in order to support resource-poor devices but flexible to allow the integration of resources on more powerful devices (BASE). Adaptation of applications is eased by an application model based on contractually specified components and a supporting component system (PCOM). Take a look at the software page on information how to get the source code of BASE and PCOM.
